Students with Disabilities

Due to the number of students attending with specific requirements it is recommended that applications be made as early as possible once your place at Swansea has been confirmed. This will ensure that the best attention is given to each individual application.

  • Please ensure that early contact is made to enable your application to be given the best attention in the first instance you should contact the Disability Office
  • Appropriate Ground floor rooms are available at most residence sites and arrangements can be made for hearing-impaired students.  Students who have mental health difficulties may spend their whole time at University in residential accommodation if this is recommended on medical grounds.
  • A number of rooms in the Singleton Campus Residences have been adapted for the use of students who use a wheelchair or are visually impaired.  Facilities for guide dogs are located within the residences complex. 
  • Partially sighted students may also be housed at the Student Village and Beck House.
  • An en-suite room in Beck House is also designed for a wheelchair user. 
  • At most residences it is also possible to provide adjacent rooms for care assistants.
